This intensive four-day module, Forms of Value of Real Estate, was designed for PhD students in the QuiVal project to critically examine how 21st-century challenges, such as demographic shifts, urbanisation, climate change, and technological disruption, are transforming traditional understandings of real estate value. Moving beyond the conventional asset-based paradigm, the course invited students to explore broader, often intangible, forms of value in real estate, including social, cultural, and environmental dimensions. Delivered through extended sessions featuring contributions from senior academics and guest speakers, some of whom are part of the QuiVal network, the module encouraged students to engage with a range of interdisciplinary materials. Assessment was based on an in-depth report analysing a real-world case study, in which students proposed new frameworks for evaluating real estate assets in light of evolving societal needs and sustainability goals.
