The QuiVal Community goes to Delft!

The introductory workshop of QuiVal commenced today in Delft, hosted by the TUDelft Institute. The initiative aims not only to start the doctoral activities related to every PhD students but also to let them know all the different and several actors involved into this project: collegues, professors, enterprises partners.

The event gathered the 13 selected PhD candidates, coming from all the world and starting their PhD courses into various universities partnering in the project, and members of the scientific committee. The day began with a welcome and registration session, followed by an “ice-breaking” session to foster mutual acquaintance among the participants.

Subsequently, Hilde Remøy, Daan Schraven, and Marc Boonstra presented QuiVal, illustrating the program’s objectives and activities, which focus on the application of circular economy principles to the real estate sector. A distinctive element of QuiVal is its interdisciplinary approach, integrating skills from architecture, engineering, economics, and social sciences.

The morning continued with a hybrid session, involving the project’s partner companies. These entities, active in the real estate and construction sectors, presented their activities and their contribution to the research. After the lunch break, the PhD candidates participated in an interactive workshop on circular real estate value, exploring key concepts and innovative methodologies.

During the QuiVal doctoral program’s introductory workshop, Paul Chan, Director of Graduate School, also participated in the event.

The day concluded with a recap session and a warm welcome from TU Delft, followed by a networking aperitif and a convivial dinner.

On Friday, March 7th, the workshop will continue with a specific session dedicated to the presentation of the PhD candidates’ research projects and the start of their research activities. The day will conclude with the definition of the next steps of research and future activities.
