Dr Theo Dounas is an architect and associate professor and global (UK & Dubai) head of discipline of creative environments at the School of Textiles and Design at Heriot Watt University. He was founding member and former head of the department of Architecture at Xian -Jiaotong Liverpool University (2011-2017) where he continues to be appointed as visiting scholar. He also served as associate professor of Digital Culture at the faculty of Design sciences at he University of Antwerp (2023-2024). He is the secretary of the board of the European Council on Computing in construction and recently guest editor for the special issue “Shaping Formal Methods for Architecture: Syntax, Typology and Computation” at Nexus Network Journal.

He was co-editor and co-author of the first volume on Blockchain for construction, published by Springer in 2022.
