Dr. Gang Liu is a Chair Professor at the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences and Adjunct Professor at the Department of Green Technology, University of Southern Denmark. His research interests evolve around mapping and informing the circular, low carbon, and just transition of resource, industry, and urban systems using various geographical and environment system analysis approaches. His work has been published widely in high-profile journals such as Nature Climate Change, Nature Food, Nature Sustainability, Nature Energy, Nature Communications, and One Earth. He has been awarded the Robert A. Laudise medal by the International Society for Industrial Ecology, the James J. Morgan Early Career Award by Environmental Science & Technology, Research Frontiers Award by the Chinese Society for Industrial Ecology, and the Best Research for Digital Built Environment by the World of Digital Built Environment. He is co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Industrial Ecology and serves as an editorial board member for over a dozen other journals in the sustainability field. He has consulted or worked as ad-hoc expert for OECD, FAO, IEA, WWF, World Bank, and EU Joint Research Center. He has (co-)led several key or major projects funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark, EU Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe projects.
